JUNIOR SAILING PROGRAM BEGINS
MONDAY, JUNE 25, 2012, AT MRYC
Mystic River Yacht Club has partnered
with Team Chance, the Mystic-area youth
sailing education organization, to
establish a Junior Sailing Program on
Monday evenings - beginning
June 25 at the MRYC clubhouse and
running through August 20—for kids age
8 and up. Directing the program will be
Team Chance’s US Sailing-certified
instructors, and students will sail in MRYC’s
fleet of JY-15 dinghies. Since Team Chance is a charitable organization, this joint Junior Sailing Program is free of charge, although Team Chance gratefully accepts donations. This program is open to the general public, but junior relatives of MRYC members will be guaranteed a spot in the program. To reserve a spot, contact Fleet Captain Jay McKernan at jmckernan@msn.com.
The MRYC-Team Chance Junior Sailing Program will feature:
Monday Night Lessons (5-6:30 p.m.) 6/20/12-8/20/12
On Monday nights we will offer sailing lessons to junior sailors on a first-come, first-served basis. The curriculum will be designed based on the skill level of the students. We will cover safety on and off the water, basic sailing skills, and seamanship. A swim test is required to participate. There is no charge, but donations are welcome.
